Former Crafter’s Home President to Oversee CHA’s Focus on Independent Retailers and Manufacturers

Elmwood Park, NJ, USA; November 08, 2012 —The Craft & Hobby Association (CHA) today announced the appointment of Susan (Sue) Turchick as Vice President of Membership. Sue’s appointment brings to the CHA executive team almost three decades of diversified business and leadership experience, including 12 years as an independent craft retailer.

Sue had a long and distinguished career in accounting and financial services with 16 years of varied positions including Division Manager in Wells Fargo's Corporate Trust Services Department and as a Certified Public Accountant. For the past 12 years she has been successfully running an independent scrapbook store called Scrapbooks Too in Bloomington, Minnesota. Since 2008, Sue simultaneously ran her business and served as President of Crafter's Home, a buying group of over 100 paper crafting stores. Sue’s proven track record of membership building and proving membership value at Crafter’s Home will be a great asset for the industry and CHA.

“I am excited to have Sue be part of CHA's executive team. She is a great fit for CHA not only for the experience and understanding of our industry, but for the passion and enthusiasm she has for it,” explained Andrej Suskavcevic, President and CEO, CHA.

"I am honored to be given the opportunity to work with Andrej and the CHA staff to create new programs and enhance existing ones to ensure that our members have as many tools as possible to help them be successful. As a crafter and former store owner, I am passionate about this industry and am committed to assisting all CHA constituents (regardless of size) as every member is critical to keeping crafting alive and growing in households around the world,” said Sue Turchick, Vice President of Membership, CHA.

In addition to scrapbooking, art journaling, and card making, Sue enjoys motorcycle riding, traveling, reading, and singing four part harmony with the City of Lakes Sweet Adelines Chorus. Sue holds a B.S.B.A in Accounting and Economics from the Clarion University of Pennsylvania and lives in Apple Valley, Minnesota with her husband and son. Sue’s start date at CHA is January 2, 2013.
